3 Tips For Strawberry Success
1. To pick a ripe strawberry, tear it open to see if the red pigment extends all the way to the core. Otherwise, take a whiff - the aroma should be sweet and fruity.
2. Hull a strawberry with a plastic drinking straw. Push the straw through the bottom of the berry and up through the leafy stem end to remove the core and leafy top.
3. Use a chopstick to slice perfectly fanned berries. Place a straight-sided chopstick on a cutting board. Position a strawberry in front of the chopstick. Holding the chopstick and the strawberry with one hand, slice through until the knife hits the chopstick. Continue making 1/8-inch-thick slices, fanning the slices on a plate.
