I’m trying to raise a minimum of $10,000 to pay off the rest of my semester’s tuition and next semester’s tuition so that I can spend more time, money, energy, and effort here and at USHistoryminuswhiteguys!  I’m currently $31,410 in debt with student loans, and at the end of next year, will have $42,500 in debt.  I work a part time job and intern, and unfortunately not even scholarships, pell grants, or jobs can cover all my bills.

Kids are putting Drano, tin foil, and a little water in plastic drink bottles
and capping it up - leaving it on lawns, in mail boxes, in gardens, on
driveways etc. just waiting for you to pick it up intending to put it in the
rubbish, but you’ll never make it!!!
If the bottle is picked up, and the bottle is shaken even just a little - in
about 30 seconds or less it builds up enough gas which then explodes with
enough force to remove some your extremities. The liquid that comes out is
boiling hot as well.


Don’t pick up any plastic bottles that may be lying in your yards or in the
gutter, etc.

Pay attention to this. A plastic bottle with a cap. A little Drano. A little
water. A small piece of foil.
Disturb it by moving it; and BOOM!!

No fingers left and other serious effects to your face, eyes, etc.

We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we’re aproaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter:
‘Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended’ They pay for their order, take the two and leave.

I ask my friend: “What are those ‘suspended’ coffees?”
My friend: “Wait for it and you will see.”

Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four ‘suspended’. While I still wonder what’s the deal with those ‘suspended’ coffees I enjoy the sunny weather and the beautiful view towards the square infront of the café. Suddenly a man dressed in shabby clothes who looks like a beggar comes in throught the door and kindly asks
‘Do you have a suspended coffee ?’

It’s simple - people pay in advance for a coffee meant for someone who can not afford a warm bevarage. The tradition with the suspended coffees started in Naples, but it has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwitch or a whole meal.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have such cafés or even grocery stores in every town where the less fortunate will find hope and support ? If you own a business why don’t you offer it to your clients… I am sure many of them will like it.

I really don’t know what to do about this dog. She showed up a few days ago and hasn’t really left my porch since. She’s made this tiny ass chair on my porch her bed, and sits in that thing almost all day unless she’s chasing cats, or laying in the sun… She’s like a guard dog who’s decided to adopt ME.

I’ve done my best to provide her water and whatever dog-safe scraps I can scrounge up… But she very obviously needs both a bath, and nutritional rehab and I can’t take her in because of my landlord and boyfriend both saying “no pets”.

I can’t keep up feeding her scraps to begin with. Bryan’s starting to notice our leftovers going missing and he said something about it yesterday that hinted he thinks it’s going to the dog.

The problem is, she’s obviously part pitbul. I have a soft spot for pits because I used to breed and raise them. They’re wonderful dogs. Unfortunately, I live in Oklahoma and Oklahoma is most certainly NOT a pit-friendly state despite all evidence that they’re unlike any other breed.

Around here, they don’t even get a chance in shelters. No-kill, or otherwise. I repeat: IN MY STATE EVEN NO KILL SHELTERS WILL FLAT OUT REFUSE TO TAKE THEM OR WILL SEND THEM TO A KILL SHELTER TO BE EUTHANIZED. A shelter, any shelter, is out of the question in my state, and obtaining papers that state she is a different breed is neither a luxury I can afford to do, nor something that will make a difference. Oklahoma shelters will either euthanize or just flat out not take anything that even remotely LOOKS like a pit. I’ve tried Pit rescue groups in my area, but half of them don’t have any listed contact information, and the other half aren’t taking animals right now. My last hope for a Pit rescue group that could take her has not responded to my phone calls at all.

Other than a good bath and some obvious nutritional rehab, she’s a healthy, active, and very happy and playful dog. I had her sit to take the last picture. She understands “sit”, “stay”, “come”  and “lay down”. Judging by the way she’s tried to follow Bryan and I into the house every time we come in, I’d say she used to also be an inside pet. There’s definitely no way in hell she’s a recently abandoned stray, judging on her thinness. She’s been abandoned or out for a while, wandering.

I couldn’t justify allowing a shelter to kill her, but I can’t take care of her. I don’t need advice on what to do with her. I don’t need another suggestion for “shelters” or “rescue groups”. I’ve tried everything. She needs a home, and if you’re in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, I beg you to come take her in.

William Gu was last seen on 03/07/13, in Brooklyn, New York. He was supposed to meet with a fellow CUNY student from Staten Island, but he never arrived. He was operating his roommate’s 1998 silver Lexus and that vehicle was found abandoned in Somerset, N.J., on 03/07/13 at 7:30 pm, in front of the Somerset Diner on Easton Avenue.

Mr. Gu suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in 2011 and as a result suffers from depression, paranoia and other psychotic behaviors. Mr. Gu has no history of violence and is afraid of the Police. According to his family, he hides when he is scared. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and the black North Face Jacket depicted above. Mr. Gu is a 22 year old Chinese male, 5’11/145 lbs., brown hair and eyes. He is fluent in Chinese and English.

He resides in both Brooklyn and Perth Amboy so investigations are being conducted in both States. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Det. G Simao (PAPD) 732-324-3813 or NJ State Police at (800) 709-7090 or the NYPD at (718) 946-3311.

Was wondering if you could help get the word out about this.

This past weekend, on February 1, a fraternity at Duke University (my alma mater) called Kappa Sigma held an Asian-themed party called Asia Prime. The original invite (screen-capped above) includes the phrases ”Herro Nice Duke Peopre” and “Chank You.” Pictures from the event itself are also above. (More information here; student protest page here.)

Even more frustrating, fraternities at Duke has a history of hosting these sorts of offensive, insulting, marginalizing, dehumanizing themed parties, and a history of offering lame non-apologies for doing so.

Is this shit unbelievable, or is it unbelievable?

To all the privileged assholes I went to school with who told me that racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. were no longer a problem, especially on our college campus: What the hell were you talking about? Are you seeing this? Did we even go to the same school?

Here’s to hoping something will change here and on other college campuses too. In the meantime, please spread the word!

I’m a current Duke student and this morning I went with a group of other students to flyer the campus in protest of Kappa Sigma’s racist party. However, we were met with a coordinated effort to take the pictures down. Some of us had cameras confiscated by campus police and were forced by them to delete pictures. Almost within an hour, our nearly 1200 flyers were torn down.

This absolutely cannot stand. That’s why this protest is so important. Even on our facebook page, people are telling us to be quiet, to shut up, to keep from bringing this issue and our university to ‘national attention.’ They tell us not to make such a big deal about it, that ‘it is understandable that some might be offended.’ By ripping down our flyers, they’re telling us to mute our voices because they’ll just be silenced anyway.

But we won’t. We won’t back down. This deserves attention and it deserves to be talked about. Duke’s history of demeaning and racist frat parties can’t be swept under the rug just so a school’s reputation can sit falsely pretty and pristine. 

Some tell us to hush up and keep the peace. But this is my campus too, and I’m not about to clip my own vocal cords to keep you comfortable.

This is my kitty. He is a little under 1½ years old. He is bright and happy and a very awesome cat. He purrs non-stop. He is my best friend and is always there for me.

I came home yesterday from a long day of work, and he didn’t rush to the door like normally. In fact, I thought he might be sleeping so I unloaded groceries and put some water to boil for supper, then went to unload in my bedroom.

He was lying on the floor next to my laundry hamper, just chillin. I though “Oh, are you cold?” because he does that if the room is too cold. So I sit down beside him and pet him, because he loves to be pet. Usually his little motor will go because he’s such a purr-machine :D But there was no purring.

So I’m worried. He doesn’t purr when he’s scared or in pain. He also was lying funny, putting most weight on his front legs. I try to pick him up and he meows in pain. My poor baby, he probably fell and sprained something. :( That’s what I hope.

Since it’s 7.30pm on a Sunday, I take him to the emergency pet hospital on Kirschner. My roommate was kind enough to drive me. Sherb has a bit of a limp in his back leg, so that’s why I took him. I care about my friend. The vet. secretary told me over the phone of the 100$ emergency fee + 69$ examination fee. I wince, because I don’t have much money, but I figure it won’t be much more than a sprain.

It’s not. :( He broke his leg by the hip, and he needs surgery. The end of yesterday with the x-rays and overnight stay alone cost around 580$ which I had to pay on the spot. I’m glad I didn’t wait until morning. But ouch..

Surgery is going to be approximately 1600$ and god knows how much extra.

He is really a sweet kitty and my best friend, I want him to get better. :)

So I put my etsy shop here (click he photo). I knit and crochet just about anything, or if you want to do something extra than buy from me, you can send me an ask.

I really don’t like asking for things but this bill is too much OTL
